Hi!

I'm Sarah!  I was born and raised in Nashville, TN where I took piano lessons with Rebecca Hancock for over ten years and received my High School Diploma in Social Music from the National Guild Organization of Piano Teachers.  While living in Music City, I played and sang with various church groups, bands, studios, and other musical venues in and around Nashville.

From there I moved Lakeland, FL in and studied piano at Southeastern University with Dr. Howard Kim and voice with Dr. Shudong Braamse earning my Bachelor’s degree in music.  While at SEU, I completed extra courses in Piano Pedagogy to be better prepared to enter the field of teaching.  I also began teaching at the Lakeside Academy of Arts and Carpenter's Home Academy.  I eventually began my own studio on the campus of Southeastern University.

Upon graduating, I accepted a position at Cornerstone Church of God in sunny Melbourne Florida where I served as the Minister of Music & Arts for almost 15 years.  In addition to overseeing the music and arts department, I taught all ages from the nursery children to the seniors in various settings.  After leaving Cornerstone I served as the Protestant Music Director for Patrick Air Force Base for 2 years.  Patrick was an incredible opportunity to share my gift and my faith with our beloved military. But now I am returning home to Tennessee to be closer to family and I'm thrilled to join the Cleveland community!

I have now been playing piano for over 35 amazing years and January 2024 will begin my 20th year of teaching piano!  In addition to teaching private lessons and group lessons at my studio, I also taught music classes for Kindergarten through eighth grade at Community Christian School until my personal teaching load massively expanded and I had to return to solely teaching private lessons here at RHOM.

My desire is to give my students a well-rounded musical education that will bring joy to their lives for many, many years to come.  I allow them to discover the path of music that speaks the loudest to their heart while providing a solid foundation in both theory and technique.

I am a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, Music Teachers National Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.  I am on the NGPT National Honor Roll for having students perform 10+ memorized pieces for their Guild Auditions.  All students received Superior and Superior Plus ratings for Festivals and Auditions and competed in the NFMC Junior Convention.  I have also had students place in both national and international piano competitions.

All that aside, I am passionate about music and sharing it with others.  So whatever your age or musical experience, let me personally invite you to “Discover the JOY of Music!” here at Robertson House of Music!
