About our studio

award winning Instruction

Robertson House of Music was founded by Sarah Robertson.  She holds a Bachelors degree in piano and has taught private piano lessons for beginners to early advanced.  January 2024 begins her 20th year of teaching! We have been located in Melbourne, FL since 2006 but are now bringing our expertise and experience to the heart of Cleveland, TN!

Sarah was the recipient of the “2013 Best of Melbourne” award for Music Instructor, was nominated for the2016 and 2017 "Gold Daisy Awards" for "Best Music Lessons"and again won for "2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and now 2023 Best of Melbourne" award for Music Instructor!

After again being awarded the "Best of Melbourne" award, we are now in the Melbourne Business Hall of Fame for winning "Best of Melbourne" 5 consecutive years.

Thanks to the many recommendations by wonderful students and families, the Melbourne studio grew to average over 90 students and we anticipate to fill very quickly here in Cleveland.

RHOM strives to give engaging, quality instruction at for all ages beginning at 3 years old.  We desire excellence while never forgetting the JOY of why we make music!  We were the first studio in the state of Florida licensed to offer KiddyKeys® preschool piano lessons for ages 3-5 years old!

We focus on providing students a well-rounded musical education that will bring joy to their lives for many, many years to come.  Students learn to read written music and chords/charts, have ear training, sight reading, sight singing, theory, music history and composition. We use a variety of method books including Piano Pronto, Faber, Alfred, Bastien, & Helen Marlias, but tailor lessons to fit the goals of each student.  The degree in which a student focuses on a certain area is dependent upon which of the four Piano Pathways he has selected.

For more info on the Piano Pathways program, click here:  Piano Pathways

We utilize over 80 different educational iPad apps to enhance the learning experience as well as "off-the-bench" activities that keep the lessons fresh and exciting.  These are never the focal point of lessons, rather supplements used to reinforce musical concepts for students.

For most students, once method books are completed, they continue in post-method levels in study for Theory and Technique while playing a variety of songs ranging from the Baroque period to Contemporary & New Age.  Again, this varies depending on the Pathway the student has selected.  Students also perform pieces at the end of the semester recitals. (Adult students do not have to perform.)

Founder & primary instructor, Sarah Robertson, is a member of  NFMC  and founder of the local Coastal Music Club.  She is also a member of the NGPT and MTNA.  These organizations offer festivals, competitions, assessments & scholarships and I'm excited to offer these opportunities to any of her students wishing to participate!

For families needing financial assistance, we encourage you to check out the MusicLink Foundation.  This incredible organization gives scholarships to allow every child the opportunity to study music and Sarah is thrilled to be an active member!  If you would like to apply for a scholarship, would like more info and/or would like to donate to this most worthy cause, please click the link above.  NOTE: All scholarship applicants must submit financial records to MusicLink.
